Privacy first
We don’t sell member data. We removed third-party ad networks from our apps and treat sensitive data with the care our community deserves.
About us
For more than 15 years, Perry Street Software has built dating and social apps for gay, bi, trans, and queer people — with a rare commitment to privacy, safety, and being run by the people who use them.
Our story
SCRUFF and Jack’d each launched as some of the first apps ever published in the app stores, built by gay men, for gay men.
SCRUFF helped to pioneer the app revolution on iOS and Android, and quickly grew to become one of the largest gay apps in the world.
In 2019, Perry Street acquired Jack’d, uniting two of the world’s largest GBTQ+ communities under one roof.
Today, our platform reaches more than 3 million members across 180+ countries each month — from cities where pride is celebrated openly to places where LGBTQ+ rights are yet to be fully secured.
That responsibility shapes how we build. We don't use third-party ad networks in our apps, we publish travel advisories for members entering countries that criminalize same-sex relationships, and we keep our community’s data out of the hands of data brokers. When the people building the product are part of the community — not part of a conglomerate or publicly traded global corporation — it leads to very different product, business, and social outcomes.
Learn more about this vision from our co-founder and CEO in this presentation from 2019 about third-party ad networks. You can also learn more about Perry Street Software’s Engineering Team on our blog published on Medium.
Our Culture
PSS brings its global teammates together periodically throughout the year, and has hosted a summit in Berlin annually since 2022. We are fortunate to have co-workers from more than a dozen countries worldwide who collaborate online daily to help improve our community.
